Downtown LA just got a new watering hole, Ebanos Crossing, named for the spot in Texas where bootleggers would get their precious cargo through.
The clever menu is divided geographic routes meant to lead you to Ebanos Crossing. Here are my cocktail choices from North to South.
These drinks are Rum and Whisky based but unfortunately I only tasted from the South and Ebanos categories– because I planned to drive home at the end of the night! So, if you like whisky, stay in this category.
Get the First Battle of Tabasco if you’re ready for a kick. Drinks from El Sur are based in Mezcal and Tequila.
The Ebanos Old Fashion is the perfect blend of north and south and featured bacon infused Bourbon. Yes that’s a candied bacon pretending to be an olive!
If you find you need more food than candied bacon while you drink, then try their roasted figs and cat fish tacos! Just don’t be afraid to get your hands a little messy.
Ebanos Crossing has a night-club feel and features a great set up for live music. For those of us better suited to the day time there is a happy hour—including Fridays—from 5-8 PM.
See you at the border!
