What’s New in Food

Telefèric Barcelona has got a new space, and you’re invited to taste it all on opening night. Visit the Spanish marketplace, El Merkat, on February 2nd, from 5 to 7 p.m. for FREE Tapas, Drinks, and Live Music. 

Also, on February 2nd, Stitch Fix is collaborating with Cha Cha Matcha for a free giveaway of Totes, Sweatshirts, and Matcha Drinks to celebrate the 2024 Color of the Year according to their style forecast: Matcha. The event takes place all day while supplies last at the West Hollywood location.

February 3rd is Smorgasburg Dumpling Day at Santa Anita Racetrack. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and a Starter Pack with Dumplings, Drinks, and more is $34. Purchase here. It’s fun for the whole family!

National Frozen Yogurt Day is coming up on February 6th, and Yogurtland is celebrating with a BOGO deal. Rewards members can also earn double the points on that day.

Smorgasburg LA is the ultimate Sunday food festival happening February 11th and February 18th at Row DTLA. Admission is FREE to access over 70 different vendors who often go on to own the trendiest restaurants in Los Angeles. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Not to be outdone, the valley is having its own Food Truck Festival outside Topanga Social in the Westfield Topanga Mall on February 8th. This is an evening event from 6 to 9 p.m. with 10 of L.A.’s best trucks.


Enjoy Fresh Art

Saturday, February 3rd, is a Corner Collective Pop-Up at Barbrix restaurant in Silverlake from 4:30 to 6 p.m. All purchases made go directly to young artists experiencing homelessness. RSVP at joinus@myfriendsplace.org

The LA Art Show is back from February 14th to 18th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It features 120 Art Galleries covering 24 countries. Tickets are a modest $35 a piece for any time but opening night.

Frieze Los Angeles also returns to Santa Monica Airport from February 29th to March 3rd, 2024. It’s a collection of 95 of the most exciting Art Galleries worldwide. Tickets are required and selling fast.

Beginning February 27th, The Chris Carter Collection will be on view at 609 South Anderson Street, Los Angeles, CA, 90232. It’s an exhibition from the creator of The X-Files, which includes show memorabilia and original contemporary art. Visit Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m. or by appointment.

It’s Oscars Month at The Academy Museum in mid-city. Check out the website for Special Screenings, Workshops, and Exhibitions, all leading up to the 96th Annual Academy Awards on March 10th, 2024. 


Attend First Fridays

February 2nd is First Friday on Abbot Kinney with Food Trucks from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free, but the food is not. Check the website for parking details. Get outside and mingle!

February 2nd is also FREE Friday at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena from 4 to 7 p.m., during which access to all the galleries is open with no tickets necessary.

Celebrate the Lunar New Year

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon at The Original Farmer’s Market with Lucky 8 Specials at retailers like Dylan’s Candy Bar, China Depot, Marconda’s Meat, and many more. Look for the $8.88s. Dates are February 12th to the 19th.

Visit Let’s Go Disco beginning at 9 p.m. on February 6th for a special Lunar New Year celebration together with Kikori Whiskey. Expect Specialty Drinks and Music into the night.

Also happening on February 10th and 11th is the Chinese New Year Festival at The Huntington Library and Gardens in Pasadena, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Advanced tickets are required and are already sold out for members.

Cozy up for some Awards Shows

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards will be taking over The Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 4th at 5 p.m., and you can feel the music along with the presenters at these events.

  • The Hip Hop Till Infinity Immersive Event on Sunset Blvd takes you through 50 years of history in just 90 minutes with exclusive memorabilia, interactive mixing stations, and incredible music. Timed tickets begin at $35 and run through the month almost daily.
  • Also, check out the Candlelight Concert Series featuring the music of legend Whitney Houston on February 23rd. It’s an hour-long performance by a gorgeous string quartet among twinkling candlelights at the Skirball Cultural Center. Tickets begin at $32. 

Also, the Screen Actors Guild Awards on February 24th, 2024, should not be missed. It will be streaming live on Netflix at 5 p.m. 


Watch The Super Bowl

Super Bowl LVIII takes place in Las Vegas this year on Sunday, February 11th, but you can enjoy it right here in Los Angeles at these fun spots or bring the party home with some killer catering.

  • The 909 Food Hall and Sports Bar at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Highland, CA, invites you to watch the game at 50 feet wide! They have more than 150 screens in The 909 Food Hall, along with 32 Craft Beers and four Restaurants within reach. Take the Plunge

If you’ve ever been curious about the health benefits of freezing your buns off, then Cold Plunge & Cold Brews is the event for you. It’s a collaboration between Klatch Coffee and Still Life in Venice where you will participate in Performance Breathing, Cold Plunging, and enjoy Cold Brews by Klatch Coffee. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 18th, at Still Life on Abbot Kinney Blvd, and it’s just $20 a ticket. Goodies will also be distributed at the end.

Fill up on Fat Tuesday

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, falls on February 13th this year, and the place to be is the historic Harold & Belle’s in South Los Angeles. Expect an all-day party with plenty of Mardi Gras Beads, Live Performances, Drinks, and delicious Cajun Cuisine from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. There’s no cover before 2 p.m. and it’s just $20 for anytime after that when the music really gets going.

Also not to be missed is the multi-day Mardi Gras celebration at The Original Farmer’s Market. It begins on Friday, February 9th, with a performance from Alligator Beach beginning at 7 p.m. and continues on Saturday, February 10th, and Sunday, February 11th, with Food and Festive Crafts all day long beginning at Noon and 11 a.m., respectively. Tuesday, February 13th, is the conclusion with a Nervis Brothers performance at 6 p.m.

Feel the Feels on Valentine’s Day

Grab your Early Bird Tickets before February 15th for Masters of Taste 2024. The food festival is held annually at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, and this year, it’s on Sunday, April 7th, 2024. Expect dozens of free tastings and pours from Master Chefs and Tastemakers in Los Angeles – with all proceeds benefiting Union Rescue Homeless Services. 

Also on the menu is Pizza City Fest Los Angeles, which will return to L.A. LIVE on April 27th and 28th, 2024. It’s two days of panels and pizzas, and tickets can be found here
