9 Safest Dine-in Restaurants in L.A. and O.C.

Restaurants are open again but I don’t blame you if you’re not in a rush to go. Takeout has become a breeze and even the most decadent meals can taste delicious in your living room. But if you do find yourself longing for the companionship of someone you’re not related to, here are the 9 Safest Dine-in Restaurants in L.A. and O.C. for you to try this week!

9. Sushi Roku Pasadena

Finally, you can return for daily happy hour and Signature Sushi Rolls once again at Sushi Roku Pasadena.

What makes this place safe: It has got a great outdoor patio if you’d prefer that to inside, and they’re sanitizing the socially distanced space every 30 minutes. It also should be noted that most of the menu can be eaten with disposable chopsticks so no feeling awkward if you’d rather not have silverware.

8. Las Brisas (Laguna Beach)

Weekend bottomless mimosas, a return to weekday happy-hour, and an upcoming Mother’s Day Brunch make this a spot worth visiting!

What makes this place safe: Patio dining and Pacific Ocean breezes make for some great PPE.

7. L’ Antica Pizzeria Da’Michele (Hollywood)

I was at this pizza spot several times during the COVID-19 Quarantine, but their Pizza is best enjoyed when it’s piping hot out of the wood-burning oven – not reheated 30 minutes later…

What makes this place safe: The massive outdoor patio and socially distanced tables are helpful, but this is also one of the first in Los Angeles to employ digital menus from Snackpass.

6. H&H Brazilian Steakhouse

Updating safety measures for a buffet-style churrascaria could present challenges, but H&H Brazilian Steakhouse was actually one of the first restaurants to reopen in Los Angeles, and they handled it beautifully.

What makes this place safe: You’ll find your Gauchos wearing facial coverings, face shields, and gloves. Next, the all-you-can-eat buffet is now served to you by a designated member of their staff (which will probably keep us all from pushing the limits of AYCE). The massive restaurant space has always handled socially distancing well, but now your table is going to feel even more private with the six-feet rule.

5. Chado Tea Room (Various)

There’s nothing more relaxing than a hot cup of tea; and Chado Tea Room wants to ease your nerves further with an array of new safety measures.

Reservations are strongly recommended to best enjoy their Afternoon Tea Service of sandwiches, scones, and over 150 teas.

What makes this place safe: The seating has been rearranged to allow for social distancing and there are hand sanitizer stations throughout the space. The staff is prepped with gloves and masks, and there are procedures in place for immediate sanitization following each guest’s departure. Lastly, the Pasadena location has a great outdoor dining tent.

4. Playa Provisions (Playa del Rey)

Playa Provisions from Top Chef Brooke Williamson and hubby Nick Roberts is now open for all-day dining as well as their large variety of to-go options.

What makes this place safe: They’ve created a brand-new outdoor patio and have added plexiglass to all their booths. Additionally, the staff have all undergone health and safety training.

3. Casa Barilla South Coast Plaza

You’ve trusted them with your pasta for 140 years; now you can trust them with your safety too.

Casa Barilla in Costa Mesa is officially reopened and they’re one of the safest Los Angeles Dine-in restaurants because they’ve enlisted the help of outside food safety experts like NSF International to help customize their reopening plan . That means you can settle in with your Spaghettata.

What makes this place safe: Employees have undergone safety training and have daily health screenings. They’ve also added increased cleanings by a professional company. Lastly, you’ll experience social distancing and cashless payment methods.

2. Broken Spanish (DTLA)

Broken Spanish from Chef/Owner Ray Garcia has been revitalized at the NeueHouse in Hollywood with a residency extended until May 1st.

The food you love like Chile Relleno, Chicharron, and Tres Leches will all be available — served up with a side of safety on the beautiful outdoor patio.

What makes this place safe: The NeueHouse has a 6-page safety enhancements list on their website complete with air quality control improvements and localized air filters; pre-entry screenings; reduced capacity overall; and furniture orientation to make sure everyone is six-feet apart.

1. Pasta Sisters (Culver City)

Finally, we reach the #1 Safest dine-in spot in Los Angeles – Pasta Sisters in Culver City. What makes it #1 for me is that besides safety measures they’ve also added MENU SPECIALS! Which is what we all cared about most before…

While the Mid-City location remains open for take out and delivery only, the Culver City spot is welcoming guests back with some new dine-in rules and dishes like the Special of the Week (Carbonara Pasta until 6/21); the Family Favorite Seasonal Dish: Eggplant Parmigiana; a New Appetizer Plate with Five Italian Specialties like Mortadella with Pistachio and Buffalo Mozzarella; a new Lemon Cream Pie dessert; and a new gelato bar flavor: Mandarin & Mint Sorbet.

What makes this place safe: Prepare yourself for temperature readings and line coordination upon entering. Next, you’ve got social distancing between tables and face-shields, masks, and gloves for the staff; lastly you’ll see an end to self-serving stations and tap water.
