Nods for Noods at Ramen Nagi Century City
Legendary ramen shop Ramen Nagi has found its newest home at the Westfield Century City Mall, and it’s about to warm your soul. The Ramen Nagi Century City outpost is your choice for perfectly handmade noodles and 20-hour marinated broths that are steeped in tradition and not afraid to take risks.
What is Ramen Nagi?
Ramen Nagi is the creation of Master Ramen Chef Satoshi Ikuta and was founded in 2004 in Tokyo, Japan. Ramen Nagi Century City is the first Southern California location and the third in the United States, with the other two in Palo Alto and Santa Clara. There are almost 40 worldwide. They are known for the quality of their noodles and their innovative broths.
How to Order
Guests are presented with an intricate order sheet where you choose between 5 different kinds of King Broths. You can choose everything from the strength of the salt to the denseness of the noodles. You can also choose to trust the Chef’s Recommendation and let the professionals lead the way past choosing your initial broth flavor.
The bottom of the menu includes a section for Appetizers like Chicken Karage and Edamame as well as Extras like Tamago (Japanese-style egg) or Green Onions.
Appetizers
There are only three choices for Appetizers, and you should make all of them part of your meal. Enjoy Edamame with sea salt; Mini Gyoza with crispy dumpling lace on top; and Fried Chicken Karage with a side of Kewpie mayo for dipping.
Ramen
The Original King is a Tonkotsu pork bone marrow that’s been marinated for at least 20 hours, while the Red King is a spicy version. The Black King has squid ink, while the Green King is described as pesto ramen. The Veggie King is a Japanese soup broth with a cauliflower puree that’s flanked with hashed potato “chasu.” Lastly, the Limited King is where things get very inventive, with monthly rotating specials like Curry, Barbecue Brisket, and Truffle.
Unless you specify otherwise you’ll find a Nagi sauce at the bottom of the bowl that adds just the right amount of spicy kick. In Japanese Nagi means a calmness before the waves, and stirring up the sauce into the broth is what brings this ocean of flavor to life.
Beverages
Here you’ll stick to slurping sober. Choose between Japanese Hot Tea, Sodas, and Water.
