August in Los Angeles might mean the end of the Summer, but it’s not over yet! Join me outside this month for free concerts, delicious events, screenings, and more! There are more things to do than days to do them this month!

Week of August 1st – 4th
Thursday, August 1st, and every Thursday in August features a different live music offering at The Original Farmer’s Market next to The Grove. Concerts take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Get the lineup here. Jazz and groove collective Angel Town Combo kick it off.
Friday, August 2nd, and every Friday until October offers FREE Jazz on the plaza at LACMA beginning at 6 p.m. No reservation is needed, but arrive early to claim a seat or a spot for a picnic near the Smidt Welcome Plaza.

Saturday, August 3rd, is the first concert of the month at Levitt Pavillion in MacArthur Park. All concerts are FREE; you just need to RSVP on their Eventbrite page. This week it’s Y La Bamba & Buyepongo from 7 to 10 p.m.
Saturday, August 3rd, is a KCRW Summer Nights Concert from 7 to 11 p.m. Admission is FREE, but be sure to reserve on their website. This week, it’s at The Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center.
Saturday, August 3rd, and Sunday, August 4th, is The Comedy of Arrs, presented for FREE by the legendary theatre troupe The Actors’ Gang. The 45-minute production takes place at 11 a.m. in Media Park in Downtown Culver City and reservations are available on their website. The production is a Shakespeare adaptation for all ages.
Sunday, August 4th, is Free National Parks Entrance Day as part of the Great American Outdoors Act, so get outside and explore!
Week of August 5th – 11th
Monday, August 5th, is National Oyster and IPA Day, and I can’t think of two things that go better together than suds and sea creatures. Favorite spots to celebrate include The Lonely Oyster in Echo Park and Rock & Reilly’s at Topanga Social, where all IPAs are Happy Hour Priced.

Thursday, August 8th through Saturday, August 10th is a 50 World’s Best Bars Pop-up at Teddy’s at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The series kicks off with the 1930 Cocktail Bar from Milan. Tickets are $20 and include one cocktail. Doors open at 6 p.m. Reserve here.
Thursday, August 8th, is a one-night-only PIzza Pop-Up at Hot Tongue Pizza in Silverlake. Guest pie purveyors are Square Pie Guys from the Bay area with some seriously insane Detroit-style inspired slices. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and flavors include The Cookout Pie, Samin’s Summer Pie, and the Spicy Pepperoni.
Prepare for a kiss by a rose on Friday, August 9th, with a performance by Seal at The Hollywood Bowl at 8 p.m. Tickets begin at just $27.

Saturday, August 10th, is a Luau at Gladstone’s Restaurant in Malibu, where if you wear a Hawaiian shirt, you eat for FREE! The free event takes place from 2 to 8 p.m. and features Hawaiian Food, Pina Colada Cocktails in Coconuts, and Performances. Guests who come in luau attire will receive a ticket good for a plate of Hawaiian Dishes, a Free Beverage, or an Ice Cream.
Saturday, August 10th, is the grand opening of Pizza Girl at the base of the Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach. Visit from 1 to 4 p.m. for a Ribbon Cutting, Free Slices, and Bar Specials at the Hotel. Pizza Girl hails from Caroline D’Amore – daughter of the much-loved D’Amores Pizza.
Saturday, August 10th, is also National Bowling Day, and Pinstripes Topanga in Westfield Topanga will be giving away FREE Bowling Cards to each guest for one hour of FREE bowling that can be redeemed from August 11th through September 30th, 2024.

Sunday, August 11th, Hot Dog on a Stick and Santa Monica Brew Works are throwing a Pup-Up Bash in Santa Monica from Noon to 3 p.m. $1 from every sale of Santa Monica Brew Works’ 310 Stomped Shandy blended with Hot Dog on a Stick Lemonade will be donated to HIT Living Dog Rescue. Guests will also enjoy Hot Dog on a Stick Samples and Beverages. The event takes place at Santa Monica Brew Works.
