The Bar at Short Stories Hotel (Mid-City)
This hidden gem is located right across the street from The Original Farmers Market and has a better restaurant and vibe than anything you’ll find at The Grove. While you might have ventured through their doors for Happy Hour, The Bar at Short Stories Hotel is brand new on the brunch scene, and it’s about to be your favorite new spot to entertain those out-of-town guests. Visit on a Sunday when you’ll get the added bonus of a Live DJ playing pop hits sure to please anyone in your group no matter the age.
Begin your meal with Starters like Beets with Cashew Crema or Fish Tacos with pineapple slaw.
Entree choices include standards like an Egg Burrito stuffed with crispy potatoes, avocado, and cheddar, their Waffle with berries, or a Short Stories Burger with dill aioli.
Since this is Los Angeles, they have a Toasts section on the menu as well with options like Smoked Salmon, Avocado, and my favorite: French Toast with peaches and streusel.
And is brunch still brunch without drinks? The menu includes Bottomless Mimosas in flavors like orange, pomegranate, and passion fruit, as well as a Tableside Bloody Mary Cart featuring a house-infused mix of rosemary and honey. Also not to be missed is the Too Much Happiness Espresso Martini crafted with Macallan 12-year scotch, cognac, and coffee. This drink is also on their regular bar menu.
Brunch hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. No reservations are needed.
Negroni (Beverly Hills)
Argentinian restaurant Negroni has a new location in Beverly Hills. It is open for dinner, happy hour, and of course, brunch.
