Last Minute Cinco de Drinko Ideas
Cinco de Mayo marks a very special day for us here in the United States: an excuse to drink more Margaritas! So if you haven’t already purchased your Tequila Reposado Rodeo Hat for at home festivities, consider spending Cinco de Mayo at one of the following L.A. establishments instead.
Birds & Bees (DTLA)
Speakeasy style Birds & Bees is getting the festivities going as early as Friday, May 3rd! Stop in starting at 5 PM for a Flor de Nopal made with tortilla chip washed tequila, lime juice, orange, nopal syrup, and finished with a Frito crusted rim ($13).
Birds & Bees is closed on Sundays but that’s even more reason to work your way through the rest of this list!
Trejo’s Coffee and Donuts (Hollywood)
Celebrating your Cinco with a little less drinko? Enjoy the sweeter side of the holiday with Cinco de Mayo themed doughnuts like a Cactus Old Fashioned ($3.50), a Chili Mango ($4) or a Margarita ($3).
Available only on Cinco de Mayo.
Sol Cocina (Newport Beach/Playa Vista)
Deals abound all day at this beachside spot starting on Saturday, May 4th with live music! Sunday, May 5th features tacos and drink specials including the Casa Noble Margarita!
Doors open at 10 AM on Cinco de Mayo.
El Torito (Various locations)
The party begins bright and early at 8 AM on Sunday, May 5th, with a different kind of Bottomless Brunch. Enjoy 6 hours of $5 Margaritas,
Bloody Marys and Micheladas, as well as an all-you-can-eat buffet style Mexican lunch.
Then starting at 2 PM you can load up on $2.50 Tacos and even more drink specials. Basically, plan on being there until el Seis de Mayo 🙂
Tallula’s (Santa Monica Canyon)
This Cinco de Mayo experience a different kind of Tallula’s as the Rustic Canyon Family restaurant opens 4 HOURS EARLY to get it all started!
Starting at Noon enjoy pitchers of Margaritas and Palomas, alongside a Cinco De Mayo Taco Platter featuring signature favorites. A mariachi band and photo booth will also be there making this truly one fabulous fiesta!
Te’Kila (Sherman Oaks)
Head to Te’Kila starting at 11:30 AM for all-day-happy-hour featuring $6 House Margaritas and Top-Shelf Shots!
If you’re hungry I highly recommend the Elote on a Stick ($6); Nachos Bomba ($7); or a Bandito Burrito coated with salsa guajillo and topped with roasted jalapeño and melted cheeses.
The party goes all day since the Mariachi band won’t be there until at least 7 PM!
Tocaya Organica (Various)
An entire celebration for only $5.50?!! That’s what Tocaya Organica is thinking. In honor of 5/5, stop in to get a combo like a Small Chips and Guacamole plus Beer; or a Taco and Cerveza combo for just $5.50!! That’s also the price of one of their Margaritas.
For me, it’s going to be an 11/11 kind of celebration 🙂
