Clubhouse 66 in Glendora is a Neighborhood Gem Disguised as a Sports Bar

Upon first glance, Clubhouse 66 in Glendora feels like your typical sports bar/pub fare restaurant. TVs flank the interior, and the offerings are seemingly American, with a wide selection of Burgers, Sandwiches, and Nachos. After you take the time to read the menu, though, you’ll see that the options are anything but typical; that those Burgers are a proprietary blend served on brioche buns, and the Nachos include a lemon aioli. You also might take the time to notice the gorgeous outdoor patio right outside the bar space, gently calling your name. Here’s why Clubhouse 66 is the neighborhood gem you might be overlooking as you drive along historic Route 66 and why you should pull over pronto!

The Location

Clubhouse 66 in Glendora is located right off Route 66, the road made famous in the 1930s for connecting Chicago to Los Angeles. The name is fitting, as the restaurant looks like a clubhouse you might find off a golf course with a bar area opposite the dining area and many ways to watch your favorite game.

While this is the atmosphere you might be looking for on game day, if it’s 11 a.m. on a Wednesday, you’ll probably want to head to the outdoor patio to enjoy the sounds of wildlife and highway life.

The Concept

Andrew Faour took over Clubhouse 66 in 2018, and while everything remained the same structurally, there was a culinary transformation happening behind the scenes. Together with Chef Domingo Ramirez, everything on the menu has slowly been up-leveled over the years to include modern and localized twists on American favorites. This is a “scratch kitchen” where everything except ketchup is made in-house. The result is a meal that is nothing like you expected.

What to Eat

There’s something for everyone at Clubhouse 66 in Glendora, and what you choose all depends on when you visit. There’s a different Special almost every day of the week, plus a Weekday Happy Hour, a Weekend Brunch, and, of course, Lunch and Dinner.

Lunch at Clubhouse 66

Lunch at Clubhouse 66 offers an All-Day Dining Menu that begins at 11 a.m. on Weekdays. This is a great time to enjoy something fresh, like their Chicken Strawberry Salad with grilled chicken, strawberries, marmalade onions, goat cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette dressing over a spring mix of greens. You can also substitute for tri-tip, salmon, or shrimp.

The Cucumber and Avocado Salad offers perfectly deconstructed bites of sliced cucumbers, avocados, tomatoes, red onions, and serrano peppers topped with a jalapeño vinaigrette and balsamic glaze.

If you feel like you need a little more substance, Sandwiches like the French Dip or Stacked Club will surely fill you up. And then there’s always the tried and true Burger, with each one done a little differently than you are used to.

There are currently seven different Burgers on the menu, with patties that are made with a blend of meat exclusive to the restaurant. Burgers are served with your choice of fries, tater tots, or side salad.

The 66 Burger is the most traditional, served with green leaf lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheddar cheese, pickles, and Thousand Island dressing on a brioche bun. The Farmhouse Burger is entirely unique and features their custom beef patty along with crispy pork belly, pear chutney, arugula, and goat cheese sauce. There’s also a sesame-seed-crusted Ahi Tuna Burger if you’d rather your protein be swimming.

My personal favorite, though, has to be the Smokehouse Burger with white cheddar cheese, oven-dried tomatoes, arugula pesto, garlic dressing, wild arugula, and Jack Daniel’s sauce. It arrives at the table under a smoking cloche (fancy word for dome) and pairs nicely with truffle fries.

Dinner at Clubhouse 66

When the sun starts to set, and you’re nestled under the twinkling patio lights, expect your desire for Burgers to shift toward Premium Cuts of Meat and Signature Dishes.

Start with an Appetizer like Beef Carpaccio or Poke Nachos with marinated raw salmon, cucumbers, avocados, green onions, pickled carrots, impossibly delicious wonton chips, and lemon aioli to whet your appetite.

A 16-oz Ribeye with loaded fingerling potatoes and peppercorn sauce or Lamb Chops with roasted carrots purée and balsamic mint sauce just might have you reaching for the Wine Menu.

The Signature Dishes include a world of offerings with everything from Spanish Gambas Al Ajillo to a Pistachio Crusted Salmon served with mushroom risotto and finished in a beurre blanc sauce.

Along those lines, the Pizza spans the globe with everything from the Carnivore with salami, capicola, pepperoni, Italian sausage, cherry peppers, basil, and housemade pizza sauce to the dazzling Steak Aguachile with seared steak, aguachile sauce, mozzarella cheese, pico de gallo, pickled onions, cilantro, and fresh jalapeños.

End your meal on a sweet note with a moist Butter Cake served with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream and a raspberry sauce drizzle or the Happy Camper S’mores that come with their own fire pit.
