What is Funko?
Funko is a lifestyle brand famous for collectible figures of pop culture icons with extra large heads. Everyone from Elmo to Joan Jett has a Funko, and when they are released, the price is modest, beginning at $12 a “Pop!” You can even create your own Funko for about $30 and customize everything from clothes to eyebrows.
Where the real fun of Funko begins, though, is when you want to get your hands on those Funko Pop! figurines they no longer sell.
The Bob’s Big Boy Connection
Funko’s creator, Mike Becker, began the company in 1998, and his very first product was a nostalgic bobblehead, or wacky wobbler, based on the iconic Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank. This is known as the Big Boy Wacky Wobbler.
The launch of Project Fred 01 is the company’s first foray into Premium Collectibles, and only 750 figures will be available during this drop on March 7th, 2024. Project Fred O1 is the first of a series based on the Bob’s Big Boy Mascot, where Freddy (Funko’s mascot) will be dressed in a Bob’s Big Boy outfit. There will also be 75 figures wearing alternative outfits. The figurine stands at 11 inches tall.
So what’s the price of these bad boy Bob’s Big Boys? $295!
In honor of the launch, Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank took down its familiar mascot and replaced it with a Project Fred 01! Viewers can enjoy this for photo ops for just two days! Beginning February 29th, Bob’s Big Boy will be back.
