Gobble
Gobble features meal prep kits that promise dinner for two or four in 15 minutes. You pick the meals ahead of time so you won’t get stuck paying for dishes you don’t want. Menus range from Classic Dinner to Lean and Mean, which keeps the calories under 650, but still doesn’t sacrifice on taste.
Favorites from the Lean and Mean category include Mexican-style Steak with Beans and Chicken Paillard with Asparagus and Lemon Butter Sauce. You’ll be amazed at what you’re able to serve up! Best of all, the cleanup is minimal because everything has been cut and pre-portioned.
Pros: It’s hard not to gobble up a $6 meal, which is what you get with the first offer to try their services ($6 for $36). It then ranges from $11.99 to $16.99 a serving, depending on how many days you choose.
Cons: If anyone can get this cooked in less than 15 minutes, please leave me a comment below and share your wizardry secrets! Mere mortals might find it takes closer to 30 minutes to get the job done.

Home Chef
Home Chef does meal prep a little differently. Instead of just focusing on what you’re eating, they take it one step further and ask the questions: for how many people and how complicated do you want it?
You can design it to push your culinary boundaries with new recipes or just save time in the kitchen, which is my preference. You can also make calorie-conscious and carb-conscious choices or keep it regular. Easy Prep Kits cut the cooking time in half with recipes that are often one pot.
On average, the price is $9.99 a person, so three recipes for a family of four will cost you $130.87, but you can also get the price down to as low as $7.99 a person or even $6.99 with the new Family Meal Kits. This makes Home Chef one of the best-priced options on the market.
Pros: If your least favorite part of cooking is the cleanup, then the Oven Ready One Pan Meals, which come with their own PAN, are perfect for you! You just follow the recipe and make it right in the pan, which you can dispose of after it’s done baking.
Cons: You have to pay for shipping, which is $10.99. You also need to keep your eye on the calories.

Good Eggs
This online grocery marketplace is very popular in the Bay area of California and has since expanded to Los Angeles. While you can get everything from Organic Milk to Fresh Produce, it’s the Curated Meal Kits that we’re highlighting here.
You can cook anything from One Pan Chicken Thighs with Charred Baby Broccoli to Thai-Style Poached Tofu with Garlicky Rice. The meals are designed to feed three to four, and while prices vary, you can often find a deal under $10 a person for a restaurant-quality meal.
Good Eggs has various partnerships with gourmet chefs like David Chang (Momofuku) and the Greek restaurant, Souvla to create step-by-step kits that will have you cooking like a gourmet chef. You can narrow your search by Portion Size, Prep Time, and Dietary Needs as well.
Good Eggs also has a whole Deli Section, so if you don’t feel like cooking, you can get everything from Prepared Turkey Ricotta Meatballs to Sauteed Greens with Chili and Garlic. The majority of the ingredients are Organic, but the prices are only slightly more elevated.
Delivery is NEXT DAY in Los Angeles if you order by 9 p.m., and a $50 minimum order is required.
Pros: No subscription is necessary, so you can use Good Eggs on a whim, and it comes the next day. Plus, you can add Organic Groceries to your order at a lower price, which is often the problem if you rely solely on Meal Prep Kits – you still need other items :).
Cons: There is a series of Order Fees unless you do join the Membership, so it’s worth it if you’ll be ordering a lot ($29), but otherwise, it could add up. It also includes free gifts.

The Butcher Box
The Butcher Box is less of a meal kit and more of a lifeline when you’re looking to feed your family quality protein. For better or worse, shows like You are what you Eat on Netflix open the eyes of the consumers to where our animal protein is coming from. I made the switch to The Butcher Box and haven’t looked back. They only sell grass-fed, grass-finished beef; free-range organic chicken; pork raised crate-free, and wild-caught seafood.
A Classic Box is just $146 per box and includes enough protein for 24 meals. A Custom Box where you choose your selection is $169 but promises enough for 30 meals! This is what I subscribe to since I like to include Wild-Caught Salmon. Oh and shipping is always FREE!
Pros: Wild-caught, free-range fish and meat at a fraction of what you pay at the market and Free Shipping.
Cons: These aren’t meal kits, so you have to get creative in the kitchen on your own.

Green Chef
This is one of the best healthy meal kits if you want to add more Organic Vegetables to your life. Green Chef offers lifestyle menus like Keto, Vegan, Fast and Fit, and Mediterranean. Best of all, you can mix recipes from the various menus if someone in your house isn’t on the same plan as you, but for the first box, it’s best, to begin with one.
Menus change weekly, and you can expect dishes like Pork with Balsamic Fig Sauce and Creamy Paprika Smothered Shrimp. Calories range from 600 to 800, and you can expect to cook for 30 to 40 minutes per meal.
You can cook for two, four, or six people (the largest I’ve seen) and for three or four meals a week. Prices begin at $13.49 a serving if you’re cooking three meals a week for two people and go as low as $11.99 a serving if you max out at four meals a week for four or six. Again this is for certified ORGANIC ingredients, so that’s pretty reasonable.
Pros: There always seems to be a deal floating around, like 60% off + Free Shipping and 20% off Future Months, which you’ll find on their website.
Cons: Past the first box, you must pay for shipping ($9.99 a box), and it’s not necessarily easy to cancel. Pay attention to the deadlines.

Blue Apron
Blue Apron is one of the original players in the meal prep game, and they’ve since added Wine and a Market to the mix, as well as Heat and Eat options if you don’t feel like cooking.
They offer NEXT-day shipping on most items, which means you might get it in four days. The Blue Apron Meal Kits are designed for family-style dining, so you’ll get pre-portioned servings to feed four people.
Highlights include Thai-Style Chicken Curry Noodles and Yellow Tomato & Basil Pesto Pizza with Spicy Maple Cauliflower, which comes together for $74.99, a little less than $10 a person.
You might be thinking, sounds delicious, but is it healthy? And I’m here to say it can be when you go with their Wellness recipes versus Family-Friendly. Although, you can also mix and match preferences.
Plans are for two or four people, having two to five meals a week. Pricing is best when you’re cooking for four people, and you can bring the price per serving down to $7.99 with just three meals a week.
Pros: They’ve added Fast and Easy Meals to the mix, which include Quick Prep under 30-minute recipes and Heat and Eat options.
Cons: Shipping is always $9.99, but they offer free shipping on the first box and deals like $110 off over 5 orders on the website.
