Virtual Food and Wine Events that Beat Reality
Ok, here’s a secret, you don’t need to be in L.A. to enjoy the best virtual food and wine events in Los Angeles. Power up and sign in from anywhere you live and experience the best in culinary and culture from the comfort of your living room. You might even find you like the experiences more at home than in person — and there’s no designated driver required!

Virtual Wine Tastings
Enjoy your own private wine tasting without having to hire a driver when you order a kit from In Good Taste. I participated in a preview event with Grand Reserve World Mastercard showcasing THE UNITED GRAPES OF AMERICA and I can tell you this country is BEAUTIFUL!
What I like best about In Good Taste is that you can schedule your own private tasting as it fits your schedule. Plus, it’s FREE with the $65 tasting kit price if you can gather a group of 6 together. The kit features eight rather large pours in stunning apothecary-style bottles that you’re encouraged to keep past the tasting. During the class, you’ll learn how to taste your wine, a little about all the wine regions, and what to look for when you’re out shopping for your own bottles.
If this sounds like one of the virtual food and wine events you’d like to participate in more often once, then I urge you to sign up for a Grand Reserve World MasterCard where the events occur monthly for members.
Virtual Cooking Classes
Participate in a Diwali Sweets Cooking Class courtesy of the Fowler Museum at UCLA on November 13th as part of their monthly cooking class series. Past guests have included chefs from Jitlada and Ma’am Sir, with all events pertaining to something culturally significant that month.
During November, the guest will be the Michelin recognized restaurant, Mayura Indian Restaurant. They’ll be cooking up traditional treats like Unniyappam (Indian dumplings) and Payasam (Indian pudding).
Best of all this and other events are all FREE!!!! Reserve using the eventbrite link here.
Virtual Culinary Theater
Enjoy the experience of a Korean New Year’s Eve dinner from the comfort of your own kitchen when you indulge in Coming Home Again from director Wayne Wang. The film features the culinary curation of three-Michelin starred Chef Corey Lee (Benu) who trained the actors for the film’s cooking scenes. Follow this link to reserve your virtual movie ticket and try not to cry into your Kalbi.
Also be on the lookout for A Chef’s Voyage, the story of three-star Michelin Chef David Kinch (Manresa) as he travels to France to commemorate his restaurant by cooking his California cuisine alongside French chefs. It’s coming to Apple TV, iTunes, and Amazon Prime on November 24th.
Lastly, Eater’s Guide to the World, narrated by Maya Rudolph is now on Hulu! Eat your way across the world with the insider knowledge to get you into the right places. You can start planning your post-COVID 19 dining out now!
Virtual Museum
Although this doesn’t technically fall under the category of virtual food and wine events, it certainly feeds your soul!
Explore the world’s great museums without getting on a plane and see them as you’ve never experienced before. Begin in Moscow with a private tour of the Hermitage for just $19 a family!
Next, take the kids to the virtual Aquarium of the Bay in northern California for a 45 minute deep dive that takes you beyond the “staff only” signs. The price is $40 which may seem a bit high, but it also benefits research and conservation efforts — and it’s less than taking the whole family to the aquarium. Purchase tickets here.
