In anticipation of the upcoming Wicked film heading to theaters this November, The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills is setting the stage with a deliciously themed afternoon tea.

The Wicked Witches Afternoon Tea begins with your choice of Tea, featuring the classic selection from The London Hotel as well as new flavors like Butterfly Pea Flower & Lemon Verbena (which changes color) and my personal favorite: Fantastic Mushroom. Next, you’ll be treated to a tower of London Tea Sandwiches, including Black Brioche with Smoked Salmon and Crème Fraiche and Apple Roasted Chicken on Onion Profiterole, along with a row of “Not So Wicked” Sweet Pastries and Cakes. Flavors include a delectable Ube Mousse Cake and a rich Flying Monkey Frozen Soufflé. The tower is accompanied by a plate of Warm Scones with clotted cream and all the fixings. If you’re feeling extra wicked, add on a Signature Wicked Cocktail made with green chartreuse, gin, and maraschino ($22).

Reserve on OpenTable for Saturdays and Sundays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. But don’t delay! The Wizard can only see you for a limited time. The cost is $84 per good witch.

Stay Spooktacularly Safe

The annual Montrose Halloween Spooktacular is probably the safest way to take kids trick-or-treating. All the shops on Honolulu Avenue in Montrose open up to give away free candy from 5 to 7 p.m. on October 31st. There’s also nothing scarier than going to a big event with no parking, but this stretch of the 2200 to 2400 blocks of Honolulu Ave. has tons of free spaces if you get there early. Make sure to visit Sage Fitness at 2321 Honolulu for a special Train or Treat promotion.

Also perfect for the little ones is the 17th Annual DTLA Halloween Festival for Kids, brought to you by the Downtown Center Business Improvement District and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. There will be trick-or-treating, magic shows, a craft station, and some serious costumes brought on by the FIDM crowd. Tickets are $13 pre-sale or $15 at the door. Click here to purchase your tickets. The first 600 kids will get a pumpkin tote back, plus there will be hot dogs from Shake Shake and Cookies from Capital One Cafe.

There’s no reason to wait until October 31st to trick-or-treat. Head to the L.A. Zoo for their Boo at the L.A. Zoo programming, happening October 19th and 20th and 26th and 27th. Visitors can experience goodie stations, an extinct animal graveyard, spooky story time with acclaimed authors, and much more for the same price as admission. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and you can get day-specific details on their website.

Lastly, when in doubt, take the kids to the mall. Westfield Century City and Topanga Social at Topanga Westfield will offer trick-or-treating at the various retailers. Hours for Topanga Social are 2 to 8 p.m., and kids must be in costume to partake in the freebies.
