What to do in Los Angeles this Weekend!
What you missed in May

One of my favorite spots for cocktails, Birds & Bees, is upping their food game with a pop-up from Pain Pizza on Friday May 17th! This Friday, May 17th,, enjoy a French bread pizza on Bub & Grandma’s baguettes from 5pm until sold old. Luckily that’s also Happy Hour 🙂

If you enjoyed last weekend’s L.A. Times Food Bowl Night Market where the best burger in L.A. was voted on and given to Banh Oui by judges and Hiho Cheeseburger by the people; then you’ll love this weekend’s dine L.A. Burger Trek special event!
In the vein of the dineL.A. Donut Trek, guests can participate in a 4-hour tour and sample burgers from 3 of the 32 spots while sipping beers paired by a Certified Cicerone®.
This is a partnership with the L.A. Beer Hop so if you’re more about the meat then I recommend following the self -guided tour and checking out some of L.A.’s Best Burgers like Belcampo and HiHo Cheeseburger that are cross-promoted at both the L.A. Times Food Bowl and the dineL.A. Burger Trek.
All Weekend!!!!
Mimi’s Cafe is extending National Mimosa Day into the weekend with $5 Splits of Korbel alongside your favorite mixer! The Guava Mango is about to become your new go-to drink.

It’s the second weekend of everyone’s favorite traveling outdoor cinema! This week, you’ve got Crazy Rich Asians at the Los Angeles Historic State Park in Chinatown. Next up is one of my fav’s, Coming to America at The Autry on May 26th. The tickets are practically FREE so you can spend some money on food trucks.
Baby Bonus: Bring the kids AND the dogs to this one! There’s even a fashionably late section if you can’t get it together fast enough.

Are you on the list?
Chef Jeremy Fox’s new restaurant, Birdie G’s, doesn’t open until late June, but you can get on a super special preview dinner series right now!
The three-night dinner series on June 8th, 9th, and 11th offers diners some incredible meal collaborations with chefs from around the country like San Francisco’s Kim Alter (Nightbird); or get a look at some of your favorite Los Angeles chefs like Josef Centeno (Orsa & Winston), Genevieve Gergis and Ori Menashe (Bestia), and Jessica Koslow (SQIRL). All will be cooking dishes that inspired them from the past.
So why am I talking about this now? Because there are only 100 spots available for each night through Resy! Tickets are $85 for multiple courses and $45 for wine pairings.
Saturday, May 4th is Eat|See|Hear
Kicking off Saturday, May 4th, Eat|See|Hear, the outdoor traveling cinema is back with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in North Hollywood. Preceding the screening you can enjoy live music just like in the film days of old, plus there will be over 150 food trucks on rotation.
Coming up, you’ve got Crazy Rich Asians on May 11th at the Los Angeles Historic State Park, and my personal favorite, Coming to America is coming to The Autry on May 26th. Follow the links for discounted tix that are practically FREE!!
Saturday, May 4th is Derby Day
Grab your hat and pour yourself a Julep for the greatest two minutes in sports: The Kentucky Derby! If you find yourself in mid-city head to Yardbird Southern Table & Bar where starting at 11:30 AM there’s 2 for 1 Woodford Reserve Special Edition Mint Juleps in souvenir cups. ($16)
If you’re in Downtown Los Angeles, then Redbird is throwing you a garden party with Specialty Cocktails, Deviled Eggs with caviar, Blue Crab Cakes, and so much more! Tickets are $45 a person and the party goes from 1:30-4:30 PM.
Sunday, May 5th is Cinco de Mayo
Need an idea of what to do on the 5th, I’ve got 7!
Blame it on the Tisch background, but this foodie has a soft spot for those follies. The Musical Theatre Guild is reprising one of Stephen Sondheim’s most heartfelt pieces, Sunday in the Park with George, and instead of making that trek out to Hollywood you can see it at the beautiful Alex Theatre in Glendale! Get your tickets for more than 50% off right here!
