Where to eat with the best views in Los Angeles
The county of Los Angeles is 4,751 square miles and includes pacific coastline, mountain ranges, forests, rivers, and deserts. With all this ground to cover one must invariably ask; Where is there to eat with the BEST views in Los Angeles??
Let me give you a tour!
Castaway (Burbank/ The Valley)
Specialty Restaurants Corporation, the parent company of Castaway, is over 60 years old and it’s never looked better! The restaurant underwent a pretty extensive facelift earlier this year, and although the fun-loving Island spirit is still present, the dated maritime atmosphere has thankfully gone overboard!
In honor of turning 60, Castaway celebrated with a 1958 Throwback Menu. This included $6 Mai Tais and Crab Cake with Tiki Sauce appetizers ($10).
The Teriyaki Steak ($19.58) was melt-in-your-mouth goodness followed up by a Pineapple Cheesecake almost as sweet as the view ($6).
While they’ve since returned to their regular menu this place is surf and turf all the way.
The bar also opens up every weekday at 4 PM for Tappy Hour. That’s when you might consider picking up a cocktail inside for $3 off before you head out to take in one of the best views in Los Angeles.
Must have cocktail: The Love Child with Partida Reposado Tequila with Strawberries and Habañero Essence ($15)
71 Above (Downtown Los Angeles)
It’s hard not to enjoy views of the city from 950 feet above ground level. Chef Vartan Abgaryan of 71 Above has curated a Nuvo American menu that’s best enjoyed as a Tasting. However, some of the best dishes can also be ordered à la carte AND DURING HAPPY HOUR!
Glasses in the air everyone!
Harriet’s (West Hollywood)
A relative newcomer on the cocktail scene, Harriet’s, at the upcoming 1 Hotel West Hollywood offers one of the best views of Los Angeles and pretty much cements why it’s so great to live here.
The space, designed by John Sofio, offers classic Hollywood sensibilities while still being ultra-modern.
While the food, by Culinary Director Lord Maynard Llera (The Nice Guy), is the kind that is impossible to get fat from! Think thinly sliced dry-aged charcuterie and instagrammable vegetable dishes straight from the ground!
Now on to cocktails! The menu by Bar Director Justin Campbell draws inspiration from the setting and if you order them all you can have your own secret garden!
Two of the most popular drinks are the Garden Party with Belvedere Vodka, St-Germain, and Blue Mallow Flower, and The Jojo with Absolut Elyx Vodka, St-Germain, Fresh Lemon, and Strawberry. But you can’t go wrong with any of them!
Nobu (Malibu)
Go for the unobstructed views of the pacific and stay for the sushi at Nobu in Malibu! Personally I’m a fan of the ocean in the day time, but the classic Nobu Signature Menu is only $25 more during dinner! You can also order everything à la carte; and the Nigiri and Sashimi prices rival that of your local strip mall go-to.
