Where to go on National Hot Dog Day in Los Angeles

Are you wondering where to go on National Hot Dog Day in Los Angeles? Well, I’ve got your list right here of the top spots to get a deal and a dog on July 17th, 2024.

Hot Dog on a Stick

Hot Dog on a Stick is celebrating National Hot Dog Day with a Secret Menu Item: The Charlie, which will be available for ONE DAY ONLY! The Charlie is a traditional beef or turkey Dog, placed inside their signature Cheese on a Stick and served flat, like a Hot Dog.

The restaurant will also be participating in a promotion for dogs on four legs with Milk-Bone until August 11th. When you spend $20, you’ll get a FREE Milk-Bone x Hot Dog on a Stick Bandana plus a bag of Milk-Bone Minis for your fur baby.

Dog Haus

Pasadena, California, is the birthplace of the Dog Haus franchise, and with 30 locations and counting, chances are there is one near you. They’re known for all-natural, hormone-free haus dogs on Hawaiian rolls with funky sauce drizzles and toppings. This is definitely where to go on National Hot Dog Day, as their rewards app will get you a FREE dog just for downloading by 7/16! The Free Hot Dog will be loaded to your account by National Hot Dog Day on Wednesday, July 17th.

Pink’s Hot Dogs (Hollywood)

Calling themselves “the little hot dog stand that could,” Pink’s Hot Dogs is a story of perseverance. Paul and Betty Pink started the business with a $50 loan from Betty’s mother and a pushcart. When the landlord raised the rent on the land, the couple got a loan from Bank of America and added a cover to the pushcart to make hamburgers. To make ends meet, they even started a second business selling flowers! With a little time, they built the stand that remains on Melrose and La Brea today, allowing for parking and outdoor seating. The couple passed the business on to their kids in 1985, and it now has 15 locations worldwide and offers 35 different hot dog combinations to choose from.

Menu favorites include a 12-inch Jalapeño Dog with tomatoes, chili, guacamole, grilled onions, and lettuce and the Brando Hot Dog, which is 9 inches of dog with mustard, onions, chili, and shredded cheddar cheese.

For National Hot Dog Day, Pink’s is offering their famed Chili Dog for just $3.75 a piece. That’s a 50% discount. Limit two per customer and valid until 5 p.m. Big thanks to the EatDrinkLA reader who scooped me on this one :).

Wienerschnitzel

Wienerschnitzel, the world’s largest hot dog chain, is celebrating National Hot Dog Day in a big way. While they always have coupons, for this holiday, you can enjoy 4 Chili Dogs for just $4 without having to clip anything. They chose the Chili Dog because it’s the most popular item on their menu. If you’ve ever had one, you’ll know it’s not crazy to want to eat four at once. Just use the judgment-free drive-thru 🙂

Dirt Dog (DTLA, Pasadena, Downey)

This L.A. franchise was born from a childhood of eating bacon-wrapped hot dogs on the DTLA street food scene. Timothy Cam’s mother playfully called them “dirt dogs,” and the name just stuck. While they aren’t doing anything specific for National Hot Dog Day, you can’t go wrong with a Patty Melt Dog from Dirt Dog. It’s wrapped in center-cut bacon and topped with fries, bacon bits, cheddar, and chipotle aioli.

Dodger Stadium (DTLA)

The classic Dodger Dog had a bit of a facelift a few years ago, which is still a sticking point for some fans. While the meat still comes from Vernon, California, Farmer John’s has been replaced by Papa Cantella’s as the producer. If you still want to keep it classic, be sure to order yours grilled over steamed.

While there isn’t a game on National Hot Dog Day, you can grab your tickets here for the Friday, July 19th matchup against the Boston Red Sox at 7:10 p.m.
