Where to go on National Oyster and IPA Day this Saturday in Los Angeles
Saturday, August 5th, is National Oyster AND IPA Day! While these foodie holidays are separate entities, some of the best spots in Los Angeles have some sweet combinations. After all, what’s better than oysters and beers?
Broad Street Oyster Company (Malibu/DTLA)
Broad Street Oyster Company brings the best of New England to the west coast with Raw Oysters and Oysters Rockefeller. They also have a killer Lobster Roll, but that’s for another holiday. Don’t forget to add a Far Field x Broad Street Dreamy Daze Hazy IPA to your order.
The Ruby Fruit (Silverlake)
Sapphic wine bar and restaurant The Ruby Fruit will be hosting the Little Anchor Seafood Truck, which is usually docked on the west side of Los Angeles, for a Food Truck Pop-Up Seafood Party.
Enjoy Oysters on the half-shell, Oyster Fries, and more, along with delicious Wine Pairings by The Ruby Fruit. Hours are 2 to 8 p.m.
Rappahannock Oyster Bar (Row DTLA)
Rappahannock Oyster Bar at Row DTLA is taking $1 off all oysters for National Oyster Day, which also coincides with their weekend brunch. Longer hours mean more oysters, and they’re shucking from 11 am. to 10 p.m.
Carlsbad Aquafarm
This is a fun one if you don’t mind a quick trip to San Diego. Southern California’s only oyster farm, the Carlsbad Aquafarm is open for tours, tastings, and even shucking classes. Learn about safe harvesting processes and farming, and enjoy an Oyster Shucking Class at the end of your tour.
The tour package costs $40-$45 per person and includes generous tastings. Kids under 12 are FREE! Reservations are required.
Found Oyster (East Hollywood)
Found Oyster is your home for all things seafood, bubbles, and brews. They have a daily Oyster Selection and a Baywatch Platter, which features a dozen Oysters plus Prawns and other Shellfish delights crafted by Chef Ari Kolender. Hours on Saturday are from Noon to 10 p.m., and they no longer take reservations but do offer a space to hang out with a beverage while you wait.
The Lonely Oyster (Echo Park)
The Lonely Oyster is one of my favorite spots for a chilled martini with style. The Lonely Oyster Martini is made with gin or vodka, a fresh premium shucked oyster, and a caviar bump. Can somebody say decadent? They serve food too, but you could double down on the martinis if you’re really hungry 🙂
Hours are Noon to Midnight, and reservations are available.
L&E Oyster Bar (Silverlake)
This neighborhood spot specializes in fresh Oysters that are flown in daily. It’s $18 for a half-dozen and $35 for a full. They are open Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m and L&E is walk-in only.
Connie & Ted’s (West Hollywood)
Stop into Connie & Ted’s for a rotating daily selection from the Raw Bar. Pair that with a Craft Beer on Tap, and you’ve got yourself a wicked National Oyster and IPA Day combo. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Brunch and 5 to 10 p.m. for Dinner.
